My tuppence worth? I prefer Eliot's reading, jagged though it may be. For four decades, it has soothed me to hear him speak his own words as he intended them to be heard and read. Fiennes, who I like very much, is too smooth and polished. It's a gift to hear Eliot, masterly and flawed, recite his poetry. His cumbrous senescence, the heft of two wars, and his beloved England's mutability resound in every syllable.

It seems to me that, as is often accepted in poetry, in the first stanza at the very end the word "symmetry" should not be read as usual. Poets often use this technique in order to preserve the rhyme and in this case it should not be symmetry, but [simmetr`ai]

I have been listening to all Sir Patrick's sonnet and am developing a new found appreciation of Shakespeare's work and possibly developing an uneducated interpretation. Is it possible that "vade" "by truth" is a way of saying evading the expected outcome by telling the truth. Just a musing. I would love to hear responses
